You Fell for The Girl
See the tears in her lashes,
diamonds slicing down her face.
She can’t fake it anymore, and people wonder
how your lies can simply continue.
You always say she just has sparkling eyes.
Welcome now, my friend, to reality,
where sugar coated fancies no longer suffice.
You fell for the girl with innocent eyes,
where depression was hidden by Revlon magic,
eyes that led you to imagine a simple home, with a puppy,
a home she wished she had.
A place she’ll never take you.
Ibuprofen overdose and alcoholic evenings
run on and on and on
splinters her skin and infests, infects, manifests.
Spinal embrace, she needs you to hold her jaw up,
keep her afloat in her darkness,
stop her from choking on her vomit.
You fell in love with the deep eyes
that stalled your heart – a moment –
she looks pretty, at least, on the surface.

Comments
"but i threw you the obvious
just to see if there's more behind the eyes
of a fallen angel,
the eyes of a tragedy.
here i am expecting just a little bit
too much from the wounded.
but i see through it all
and see you."
I could ramble on forever about exactly why I love every single word and line of this poem, but I think I would bore you to death with it. I think I love it most because it could be about me.

It could be me, too....it could be any of us.

Throughout life you realize that things aren't all they're cracked up to be.
Life's hard enough, don't make it harder than it has to be.
One's true meaning can only be deciphered within their Creator's eyes.
