Paper Wings

We are simply strangers
on the outside (inside)
but the flavor of our lips joining
floods
a reunion of undisclosed, unknown
memories
that ride on paper wings
where our fragility leans on that incandescent feeling
of home.

Not everyone will experience that feeling of finding home.

I love this! It really speaks to me of the feeling of comfort in a kiss, even with a stranger, when you're feeling lost and alone and any physical contact is like balm for the soul. "memories, that ride on paper wings" could be so many things...the paper of money when life feels empty and you fill it with possessions, the paper of photographs that hold memories of the past, the paper that poetry, stories, phone numbers and love letter are written on. You're so good with the imagery. Your poems always make me think a million different things at once, even from just a few lines.

Oh thank you!
For me, the paper wings represents how fragile love is, and how lucky one is if you find true love. A soulmate is not often not found for many people. The concept of 'one true love' is like silken sand sliding through fingers, they can pass you by in an instant. You may only have that moment to find the 'one'.
For me, the paper wings also represent the fragile thing that keeps each of us afloat, and one wrong move, they're torn. We're lost. We sink. We fail. And the soulmate keeps us afloat...
Thanks Tanya, I love getting your comments.
